Pacquiao: Mayweather Wants Rematch
Even though Floyd Mayweather stated that he doesn’t care about what Manny Pacquiao is doing, Pacquiao confirmed the two talked about a rematch of their 2015 fight.
At a press conference for his January 19th fight against Adrien Broner, the current WBA “regular” welterweight champion said that during a recent trip to Japan both he and Mayweather spoke of a rematch.
“When I met up with Floyd in Japan, we talked, and he said he wants to come out of retirement to challenge me,” Pacquiao said.
“All I know is fighting in the ring and entertaining people. That’s my job. Floyd has come out of retirement and we’ll see after this fight.”
Mayweather currently leads the series 1-0 following their 2015 record breaking Pay-Per-View from Las Vegas and claimed earlier this year on Instagram that a “nine figure payday” would be coming to him for a Pacquiao rematch.
“We cannot underestimate Broner and this fight,” Pacquiao said of his January 19th opponent. “We will discuss anything with Floyd Mayweather after that.”
