Pacquiao Motivated Heading Into Thurman Fight

As he faces the last run in his legendary career, Manny Pacquiao has shown how competitive he can still be inside the ring. At 40, he welcomes the challenge of a fighter like Keith Thurman.

Pacquiao (61-7-2) faces Thurman (29-0, 1NC) on July 20 inside the MGM Grand Garden Arena for the WBA  Welterweight Title. Throughout the buildup for the fight, Thurman was stating he would end the career of Pacquiao. This is Thurman’s second fight since a 22-month absence from the ring due to injuries. While Thurman has increased the trash-talk, Pacquiao doesn’t seem to mind. He actually welcomes it.

“I feel motivated because of what he said,” Pacquiao stated.” We’ll see how the fight ends. I think it’s going to be exciting but we’ll see what happens in the ring… I’m smiling because he don’t know me and what I’m about. He was just saying, let’s give a good fight. He respects me, he is just displaying what he’s feeling.”

As far as who Thurman reminds him of based off of in-ring ability, Pacquiao chose an opponent in which he easily took care of in the 12 rounds they fought.

“Keith Thurman reminds me of the Cotto fight.”
