With Manny Pacquiao’s return to the ring set for Pay Per View in the United States, Havas Sports & Entertainment has been set as the international media rights and commercial partner for the Filipino’s battle with Lucas Matthysse on July 15th.
Per a press release sent on Friday, the deal will cover distribution across Europe, Latin America, Middle East, Africa, and the Asia Pacific. The deal will be for the exclusive rights for all platforms/devices including television, radio, broadband, mobile, radio, and more.
Said Melvin Lim, CEO of Havas Sports & Entertainment, APAC: “We are delighted to partner MPKL to distribute the Manny Pacquiao versus Lucas Matthysse fight across the world. This premium fight also offers brands the opportunity to be associated with a legendary boxer like Pacquiao, and showcase Malaysia as a premium venue for world-class sporting events.”
“We are pleased to collaborate with Havas Media Asia Pacific, who is an important player in the media industry. This media distribution partnership underlines our commitment to leverage on this world-class sports event to raise Malaysia’s profile and bolster international tourism in major strategic territories worldwide,” claimed an MP Promotions representative in a release.
Per a report from Advanced Television, Havas Sports & Entertainment will also oversee a comprehensive range of sponsorship opportunities for the “Fight of Champions”. The deal includes Pacquiao and Matthysse’s marketing rights, event and venue branding, as well as on-air sponsorship.
The fight will be Pacquiao’s return to the ring since his loss to Jeff Horn in July 2017, and he will attempt to take a ninth world title as he clashes with the WBA regular welterweight champion, Matthysse.
