Paige VanZant Inks Book Deal
UFC strawweight Paige VanZant has been no stranger to straying from her fighting career, as the 22-year-old has spent as much time on television dancing and acting in commercials as she had in the cage. Now, after her second UFC loss, VanZant appears to be adding a new responsibility to her plate.
VanZant has reportedly signed a deal with Hachette Book Group to release a memoir to be released in the near-future.
Speaking to FOX Sports in December ahead of her UFC: Sacramento loss to Michelle Waterson, she said that she was working on a memoir about her journey as a fighter.
"It’s a memoir," she said. "Obviously, people learned a little bit about my past and my story and I really haven’t told it all and it’s something I feel like I wouldn’t be able to say out loud so a book is the perfect way.
"Because it’s my words but I don’t have to say them out loud. I’m really excited. It’s just my story about how I became a fighter and what path I had to take to get here."
Publishing a memoir is not VanZant’s first detour from her primary career. Last year she took a hiatus from fighting to perform on Dancing with the Stars, earning second place in the competition.
She currently holds a UFC record of 7-3, having lost two of her last three fights since becoming a mainstream attraction.
