Parker-Chisora Possible For The Summer
After negotiations for a fight between former world heavyweight champion Joseph Parker and contender Dereck Chisora were shut down earlier this year, Parker’s promoter is open to new talks for a fight this summer.
David Higgins, who is the lead promoter for Joseph Parker, says his fighter has “no fear” of Chisora after they pulled out of negotiations that Higgins claimed were not in his fighter’s favor.
Now, with Chisora defeating Senad Gashi last weekend, Higgins feels a summer showdown between the two is an easy fight to make.
“Joe will fight anyone,” Higgins told Sky Sports. “He will certainly fight Dereck Chisora, it’s just a matter of agreeing terms. It’s the same as April, we just need to close a deal, and that fight can happen.
“Joseph respects Chisora, but I don’t think he fears him. Chisora on his day does take a punch, he’s knocked a few people out over the years, so you can never take anyone for granted.
Former world champion and Chisora’s manager, David Haye made it clear following the negotiation breakdown, that their side was open to a fight with Haye’s “friend” Parker.
“From our side, it can be made very, very easily,” Haye had told Sky Sports.
“Joseph Parker is a great fighter. He’s a friend of mine, he’s used my gym in the past when he’s been over here.
“I think that fight in the summer is great. Joseph Parker is the perfect opponent for Dereck.”
