Parker-Fury Title Fight Off

The Joseph Parker vs. Hughie Fury WBO heavyweight title fight scheduled for May 6th will no longer be happening, World Boxing Organization President Paco Valcarcel announced.

Parker was scheduled to defend the title against Fury at the Vector Arena in Auckland, New Zealand. The reason for the fight’s cancelation is unknown at this time.

"As of today, it seems there will be no WBO Heavyweight World Title fight in New Zealand," Valcarcel said. "It seems the problem lies within Team Fury."

The New Zealand Herald reported on Sunday (via Boxing Scene) that Fury’s team had complained about travel arrangements provided by Parker’s promoter under the purse bid agreement. Parker’s promoters, who won promotional rights, were obliged to provide four economy class airfares, which the Fury camp was not happy with.
