Parker Plans On Stopping Zhang – ‘I Will Bang The ‘Big Bang’

Joseph Parker expects to knock out Zhilei Zhang when they square off on March 8.

Following their career-best wins, they will appear on the Anthony Joshua vs Francis Ngannou card in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Parker beat Deontay Wilder in a unanimous decision win, disrupting the American’s plans to fight Joshua. Zhang stopped Joe Joyce in back-to-back fights, winning the WBO Interim Heavyweight Title, making him the mandatory for the winner of Tyson Fury vs. Oleksandr Usyk.

Parker was stopped by Joyce, making this an intriguing fight. The fight will pit two different styles against each other. Parker is a well-rounded, durable boxer, while Zhang is a southpaw with devastating knockout power who is making a resurgence at 40. But Parker has backed himself to get the stoppage.

“I’m preparing for the best version of Zhang. I know a lot of people are saying that he’s ’40, he’s old, and he’s going to fade.’ A lot of people are favoring him, and saying I’m young and hungry and got speed and movement. I Will Bang The ‘Big Bang,” Parker said

Parker has 23 knockouts in 34 wins, making him capable of securing a stoppage. He also went the distance with Wilder, who is arguably the most powerful puncher in the division. But facing a southpaw will be a challenge, making it vital that he avoids the left hand, which did so much damage to Joyce. Since Parker has teamed up with Andy Lee, he looks like a rejuvenated fighter.

“We’re doing the best prep, and with each camp, I feel I’m going up and up. There’s only one way I can prove that I’m going up by showing it on fight night. I believe by going to Saudi Arabia and finishing by prep there, I believe I’m going to be primed and ready for another good performance,” Parker stated
