Parker Pulled From Chisora Fight

Joseph Parker wanted to fight Dereck Chisora, but now the former world heavyweight champion will have to wait a bit longer for the opportunity.

The October 26th co-main event for the finals of the World Boxing Super Series final has been postponed following news that Parker had to walk from the fight on Tuesday.

“Joseph Parker has been battling health issues at his (Las) Vegas training camp ahead of his October 26 fight,” Kevin Barry, Parker’s head trainer told Boxing Scene.

“Following detailed medical assessment, doctors have confirmed that Joseph is not physically able to train until medical clearance is given… A doctor’s certificate has been provided to Joseph Parker’s promoter (Matchroom Boxing) as this health issue will mean that he must withdraw from his scheduled fight.”

Parker was looking for his third straight win since losing to Anthony Joshua and Joseph Parker in 2018, while Chisora was looking to re-assert himself as one of the elite challengers in the division.

Chisora is still penciled in to fight on the O2 Arena card, but Parker is hoping that as soon as he’s cleared, they can revisit this fight.

“The fight against Derek Chisora continues to be one that Joseph and the team want,” insists Barry. “Once medical clearance is given, Team Parker wants to have the fight promptly rescheduled.”
