Parker Thanks Fury For Opening Door For His Generation
Even though he is two weeks away from the biggest fight of his career, the WBO world heavyweight champion made it a point in a recent interview to thank Tyson Fury.
Parker, who faces off against Anthony Joshua on March 31st, became the WBO champion following Fury vacating the title due to issues with drugs and depression.
Parker, in a story published by Boxing Scene, claims that he’s received messages from support from Fury, even when he faced his cousin Hughie in 2017.
“He’s the reason I got the opportunity to fight for the heavyweight title in the first place,” said Parker.
“Tyson defeated the Wladimir Klitschko that nobody could defeat. He opened the door for us because it was locked into Klitschko for a long time. There is something missing without Tyson and once he’s back, the division will be on a different level.”
