Parker-Wach In-Play For Garcia-Vargas
After a strong effort against Dillian Whyte in December, Mariusz Wach has a shot at redemption against former WBO world heavyweight champion Joseph Parker.
Per a report from Boxing Scene, Parker nad Wach are currently in talks to face off on February 29th on the undercard of Mikey Garcia’s Matchroom and DAZN debut against Jessie Vargas inside the Star in Frisco, Texas.
Parker, who is currently up for a potential WBO title shot if Anthony Joshua is forced to vacate his title, was last seen in the ring this past June when he stopped Alex Leapai on a card in Providence, Rhode Island. The New Zealander was set to fight Dereck Chisora in October of 2019, but was pulled from the card due to an illness brought on by a spider bite.
“We are waiting for specifics, documents that will have to be signed,” Wach told Telewizja Polska Sport in Polish, according to News Hub.
“I will sign, send back and you will probably see me at the end of February with Parker. It would definitely be an interesting fight. Parker is fast and dynamic, but somehow I will have to compensate. I watched many Parker duels. I saw him boxing. During training and sparring it did not differ.”
“I will have four weeks of sparring. I think it’s enough time to prepare properly,” the 40-year-old Wach said amidst a training camp in the city of Karpacz.
