Like many people, Joseph Parker had an eye towards the screen when Deontay Wilder faced off with Luis Ortiz on March 3rd at Barclays Center. And while most people didn’t have to study him as a potential opponent, Parker would be quick to praise Wilder in an interview with Boxing Scene.
In the interview, Parker was impressed by Wilder’s ability to battle back from adversity as Ortiz almost KO’ed Wilder in the seventh.
“I was worried but he showed the heart of a champion and he showed that he wants to stay at the top for a long time and he came back,” Parker revealed.
Parker also saw things he would be able to exploit if he’s able to get past Anthony Joshua, and get Wilder as his next opponent.
“We are watching as fans of boxing but also watching as a potential future opponent so you are sort of looking at the strengths and weaknesses that he has and things that you think will work but that is obviously down the road and we are focused on Joshua.”
