Parker’s Trainer: Wilder Beats Joshua

The trainer for the only man who took Anthony Joshua the distance, Kevin Barry, thinks Joshua doesn’t have the edge against Deontay Wilder.

While Joshua awaits a signed contract from the WBC heavyweight champion, Joseph Parker’s trainer leans towards Wilder in a highly anticipated unification bout rumored for later this year..

“Look I have always thought Deontay Wilder is a very good and a very dangerous fighter – an unorthodox fighter who throws punches from very crazy angles. He is a fighter who is very hard to train someone to defend the angles of the punches that Wilder throws. I think that is what makes him so dangerous plus also he possesses probably the best one punch knockout power in the division makes him even more dangerous,” Barry told

“I like at the moment Deontay Wilder in that fight. I think that Joshua and his team see the same thing I see and they want to give him every opportunity to be successful by leaving that fight for as long as they possibly can. It is always going to be there. I think the longer they leave it the more money it is going to be worth.”

Parker makes his return to the ring next month, looking to bounce back from his March loss to Joshua, as he faces off against Dillian Whyte on July 29th at the O2 Arena.
