Patricky Freire Defends Bellator Lightweight Title Vs. Usman Nurmagomedov
It looks like the age of Nurmagomedov is here to stay.
It’s hasn’t even been two years since Khabib Nurmagomedov ended his glorious career and it looks like his cousin is already making gigantic strides.
In November, Usman Nurmagomedov will be battling Patricky Freire for the Bellator Lightweight Championship.
The recently crowned Bellator lightweight champion Freire knows that it won’t be easy coming up against the undefeated Nurmagomedov, who has finished the last three bouts in the first round.
MMA Fight Universe was the first to report this matchup, which was then confirmed by sources to MMA Junkie. However, this fight has yet to be officially announced.
The lightweight championship is set to be the biggest matchup in the upcoming Bellator event on November 18. The venue and the location of this event are not announced yet.
Freire won the vacant lightweight championship by overcoming Peter Queally in the second round at Bellator 270 last November. The pivotal moment of his career came after a decade spent on promotion. His last three victories have come in the early stoppage phase.
On the other hand, Nurmagomedov has competed under the Bellator banner four times. After overcoming Mike Hamel via unanimous decision on his debut, the 24-year-old eased past Manny Muro, Patrik Pietila, and Chris Gonzalez in the initial frame.
