Paul Vs. Diaz Does Over 500,000 PPV Buys
Jake Paul vs Nate Diaz reportedly sold over 500,000 pay-per-view buys in the US.
The two engaged in a crossover event on August 5th, 2023, as Paul beat Diaz via a unanimous decision.
Despite the failure to get a knockout, there was an element of intrigue heading into the fight.
Paul was seeking to bounce back following his split-decision loss to Tommy Fury. Meanwhile, Diaz was making his boxing debut as he sought to pull off a shock.
And by the looks of it, the storyline heading into the fight resonated with the boxing community due to the pay-per-view figures.
“It’s looking like 500 plus pay-per-views. Biggest gate. And that’s U.S. pay-per-views so it means more because it costs more in the U.S. Massive number, massive success. There’s like statistics that show the Google searches from that night.”
“We’re number one most-searched Google trend by like ten times. Trended everywhere, biggest gate, biggest ticket sales, biggest sponsorships,” Paul
This is not the first time that Paul’s fights have drawn in a huge audience. His fight with Tommy Fury sold 775,000 pay-per-views, showing that the ‘Problem Child’ is a commercial draw.
And those numbers with Diaz would suggest that there may be a desire for the two to run things back in MMA.
Following the fight, Paul admitted that there was a $10 million offer on the table to face Diaz in the PFL. So moving forward, there could be another big event on the cards.
