Paulo Costa Is Irate Following Israel Adesanya’s Post-Fight Antics
Paulo Costa isn’t thrilled with Israel Adesanya even after UFC 253.
Costa challenged Adesanya for the UFC Middleweight Championship this past Saturday, September 26. For Costa, he was hoping to capture his first UFC title and remain unbeaten. It didn’t work out for “Borrachinha” as Adesanya starched him in the second round for the TKO finish.
After the fight, Adesanya went behind Costa and proceeded to “ride” him. Costa’s manager, Wallid Ismail, didn’t take too kindly to this and said his fighter has ditched plans to move up to 205 pounds over the antics. In a new video posted on social media, Costa had some strong words for Adesanya (h/t MMAJunkie.com).
“I come here to talk about the action the human trash did – the human trash did – after our fight. I didn’t see when I was down in the cage, but I saw now. I disapprove 100 percent. To me, this is not done now. Nobody will stop me. Nobody can stop me. I am (coming) for you Adesanya. I want my rematch – and you know I’m waiting for you.
“Something happened before the fight. I’m not (making) an excuse here to my people and my fans. I’ll be 100 percent to fight and make him pay. That’s my words. Save my words.”
With the victory over Costa, Adesanya’s record improves to 20-0. He has 15 of those wins coming by way of knockout. Costa’s record falls to 13-1. UFC President Dana White has plans of booking Jared Cannonier against Adesanya if Cannonier can get past Robert Whittaker. It appears Costa’s hopes of an immediate rematch are slim but in MMA, you never know.
