Payton Talbott Secures First Round Finish Over Figueidedo, Calls Out Another Former Champion
Payton Talbott wasted no time in adding a sixth straight victory to his record on Saturday, with a first-round knockout of former flyweight champion Deiveson Figueiredo.
This is now the second former world champion that Talbott has defeated in his short seven-fight UFC career, as in 2025 he overcame the wrestling prowess of former two-division champion Henry Cejudo.
Right from the beginning of the match with Figueiredo, Talbott had a clear edge in striking, in addition to height and weight, and dropped his opponent to the canvas within the first minute. Figueiredo was able to get back to his feet and enter a standing grappling exchange to defend, while hunting for an opportunistic takedown. But unfortunately for the Brazilian, he wound up eating some hard shots with his back to the cage that resulted in a slight retreat.
Once the pair had some space between them, it was clear that Figueiredo was severely compromised from the hard punches, and it wouldn’t take much more to put him away. Once Talbott realized this, he wasted no time in delivering a devastating right cross that put his opponent down once again, but this time for good.

During the interview that followed the impressive first-round knockout, Talbott reminded the crowd in attendance that he has now finished two former world champions back to back, and he wants to face another. For his next match, Talbott called out former bantamweight champion Sean O’Malley, who is coming off two straight victories in 2026 over Song Yadong and Aiemann Zahabi.
