PBC, Fox Finalize New Broadcast Deal

Al Haymon’s Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) and Fox have come to terms on a new deal for broadcasts airing on Fox and Fox Sports 1 (FS1).

The deal goes into effect on Tuesday, Sept. 11, and kicks off this December. It is a long-term deal that will have an annual boxing budget of around $60 million. The agreement calls for 10 championship-level fights on Fox, plus at least 12 more shows on the FS1 cable channel.

This all comes after a new deal between PBC and Showtime, which is also valued at around $60 million, was reached last week. Showtime plans for extended PBC coverage for 2019 and beyond. It’s possible Showtime could retain certain rights to PBC fighters in divisions it has a big interest in, like welterweight, while other divisions go over to Fox.

Haymon’s PBC stable contains over 160 fighters, with two — WBC/IBF Lightweight Champion Mikey Garcia and IBF Welterweight Champion Errol Spence Jr. — in The Ring magazine’s pound-for-pound rankings list and 20 considered elite level, including WBC Heavyweight Champion Deontay Wilder.
