PBC Results: Derevyanchenko Stops Russell
Sergiy “The Technician” Derevyanchenko stayed unbeaten in his 10th pro fight, making pretty easy work of previously unbeaten Kemahl Russell last night in Tunica, Mississippi, in the Premier Boxing Champions main event.
Derevyanchenko (10-0, 8 KO) stopped Russell (10-1, 8 KO) in the fifth round of a scheduled 10-round bout. It was a fast-paced fight, which ended not with Russell going down, but being battered with a non-stop flurry of punches from both of Derevyanchenko’s hands.

Derevyanchenko, 31, turned pro in July 2014 after a strong amateur career for Ukraine, which saw him win bronze at the 2007 AIBA World Amateur Championships, and compete in the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, where he lost in the second round to eventual silver medalist Emilio Correa of Cuba.
With this win, he inches a little closer to a possible middleweight title shot. Coming into the fight, he was ranked the No. 5 contender by the WBC, No. 2 by the IBF, and No. 15 by the WBO. The WBA has him unranked at the moment.
On the undercard, light heavyweight Ahmed Elbiali improved to 15-0 (12 KO) with a first round stoppage of Jackson Junior (20-9, 18 KO), and junior welterweight prospect Jamontay Clark went to 11-0 (7 KO) with a stoppage of Gaku Takahashi (15-7-1, 7 KO) after seven rounds.
