PBC Tripleheader Card Set for August 3
A heavyweight contest featuring Adam Kownacki and former WBC Heavyweight Title challenger Chris Arreola tops a night of action for Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) when it comes to the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, on Aug. 3.
The 19-0 Kownacki, who has competed in New York for most of his career thus far, last competed in January, where he scored an easy second-round finish of another former WBC title challenger, Gerald Washington. Of Kownacki’s 19 wins, 15 have come by KO/TKO. Kownacki was one of the men looked at to potentially take on Anthony Joshua as a fill-in opponent for June 1, a position which ultimately went to Andy Ruiz Jr.
Arreola originally retired following a July 2016 loss to Deontay Wilder, Arreola’s third failed bid at capturing the WBC heavyweight gold. He came out of retirement in late 2018 and racked up finishes of Maurenzo Smith and Jean Pierre Augustin in December and March, respectively.
The card will also see Marcus Browne defend the interim WBA Light Heavyweight Championship against former WBC super middleweight and light heavyweight champion Jean Pascal. Browne won the title in his last outing in January, where he pummeled Badou Jack en route to an upset unanimous decision win. Pascal, meanwhile, failed to capture the WBA Light Heavyweight Championship in his last outing against Dmitry Bivol in November.
The card will also feature Andre Berto, coming off a controversial split-decision win over Devon Alexander last year, taking on Miguel Cruz, who defeated Luis Florez in January and whose only loss is to recent welterweight title challenger Josesito Lopez.
