Pedro Campa Cleared To Face Teofimo Lopez In August

Teofimo Lopez Jr. (16-1, 12 KOs) is set to return to the city that started his peak.

BoxingScene.com reported that plans are finalized for Lopez to return to the ring on August 13.

The American would return to the ring at Las Vegas from its originally targeted South Florida destination. The former unified lightweight champion will be locking horns against Pedro Campa.

The reports suggest that the Mexican athlete was cleared for this fight, which will be his first since 2015 and second overall outside his home country. On the other hand, Lopez hasn’t stepped into the ring since last November, when he lost in a split decision against George Kambosos at Madison Square Garden.

This match also saw Lopez receiving the first knockdown in his professional career. However, he rallied back to beat Kambosos in the 10th round. Unfortunately for him, he was unable to fully close the gap on two of the three judges’ scorecards.

Top Rank was unable to comment on this developing story because the match was yet to be announced.
