Peter Fury Charts Hughie’s Next Moves
“It was a very special night for our family. The after-party went on past the early hours, claimed the trainer of the 23 year old champion. “All our close family and all our friends from over the years were there and we have to thank the staff at the Macron Stadium for partying with us.
“For Hughie to win the prestigious old Lonsdale belt is fantastic. A British heavyweight champion by 23 – it’s not often you can say that. Now he’s won it and enjoyed it, he’s got his eyes firmly set on bigger prizes.”
When asked about his son’s next steps, Fury claimed that the new champion will take a brief respite from training, but won’t be away from the ring long. “Hughie will be back in the gym on June 1 and we’ll be looking to fight in late July, Fury said this week in an interview.
“Who that’s against remains to be seen but he’s looking to push onwards and upwards back to that world title shot as soon as possible.”
