Petr Yan vs. Aljamain Sterling Title Fight Booked For UFC 259

Another title fight has been added to the UFC 259 card.

Petr Yan vs. Aljamain Sterling will take place on March 6. Yan’s UFC Bantamweight Championship will be on the line. MMAJunkie.com was the first to report this title matchup.

Yan vs. Sterling will join Jan Blachowicz vs. Israel Adesanya and Amanda Nunes vs. Megan Anderson in terms of title fights on the UFC 259 card. A location has not been announced for UFC 259 but the main card will air live on pay-per-view.

Yan was last seen in action back in July 2020. He took on Jose Aldo for the vacant bantamweight gold. Yan captured the championship by finishing Aldo in the fifth round via TKO.

One month prior to Yan’s win over Aldo, Sterling shared the Octagon with Cory Sandhagen. Sterling ran through Sandhagen, submitting him via rear-naked choke in under two minutes.

Yan comes in with a record of 15-1. His lone loss was back in March 2016. Yan is riding a 10-fight winning streak.

As for Sterling, he’s riding a hot streak as well. He has won five bouts in a row. His last defeat was back in December 2017.
