Petrosyan, Kielholtz, Parr Victorious

In his historic kickboxing career, Giorgio Petrosyan has rarely ever tasted defeat. In fact, entering his Bellator Kickboxing 5 main event bout against Amansio Paraschiv, Petrosyan had only tasted defeated twice in his many bouts.

His winning ways continued, as he scored a decision victory over Paraschiv.

Petrosyan and Paraschiv both felt each other out to start, each throwing their fair share of kicks in the opening 30 seconds. The combinations then came out within the last minute of the opening round, with both fighters turning up the intensity in the closing moments.

Petrosyan focused on mixing up his punches — throwing a few quick hands before eventually throwing one, hard solid hand. A crisp jab from Petrosyan, as he continued on with the combinations. With about a minute left, Petrosyan moved to the legs, throwing a knee and a kick to the body of Paraschiv. After a closer first round, Petrosyan really started to run away with the bout after this second round.

Paraschiv tried to show some courage, coming after Petrosyan in the third, but Petrosyan fired away. Halfway through the round, Petrosyan took a step to his left and threw a hard hand, knocking Paraschiv down. Petrosyan continued to deliver hard shots, and Paraschiv was doing little to nothing to defend himself intelligently with no standing eight count in effect.

Paraschiv lasted the distance, but it was elementary. Petrosyan moves to 86-2 in his career and winning 51 of his last 52. The judges scored the bout in his favor with scores of 29-27, 30-26 and 30-26.

Following the bout, Petrosyan made his intentions known that he wants Bellator gold.

Speaking of which, in the co-main event of the evening, Denise Kielholtz defeated Martine Michieletto to retain her flyweight championship. She nearly swept the scorecards, with all three judges giving her the win — two with scores of 49-46 and one 50-45.

The legendary John Wayne Parr made his promotional debut tonight, and he won in style, delivering a hard, powerful kick that earned him a win over Nando Calzetta.
