PFL 11 Results: Six New Champions Crowned

The first season of the Professional Fighters League (PFL) has concluded with six new champions, all of which are taking home a new title and $1 million each.

In the main event of PFL 11, taking place at the Hulu Theater at Madison Square Garden, Magomed Magomedkerimov submitting Ray Cooper III by locking in a guillotine choke almost midway through the second round to win the PFL Welterweight Championship.

The fight was fast-paced, opening with a big scramble between the two finalists that had them going all over the ring in order to gain dominance. Magomedkerimov threatened to lock in a rear-naked choke before Cooper managed to escape. Later in the fight, Magomedkerimov was able to quickly get Cooper in position to get the guillotine choke and Cooper immediately tapped. As with all the PFL title winners on the night Magomedkerimov won $1 million for being the top fighter in his division this season.

In the co-main event, Philipe Lins and Josh Copeland had a Heavyweight slugfest that ultimately turned bloody as Copeland kept taking damage and was bleeding all over his face. Copeland was not able to keep up with the boxing and was eventually stopped just 30 seconds into the fourth round.

As for the other PFL champions crowned on the card, Sean O’Connell defeated Vinny Magalhaes after O’Connell punished his opponent to the point the corner had to step in and stop the fight. O’Connell is now the new PFL Welterweight champion.

In the PFL Lightweight title bout, Natan Schulte defeated Rashid Magomedov with a narrow unanimous decision. Schulte narrowly won on the scorecards, but he was helped a little bit on the cards after Magomedov was docked a point for eye pokes in the second round.

Lance Palmer had perhaps the most consistently dominant title win as he dominated Steven Siler to win the featherweight title. Siler tried to be aggressive early on in the fight, but was quickly overwhelmed by Palmer. Palmer had impressed the judges to the point one of them gave Palmer a 50-43 scorecard.

Lastly, it took Louis Taylor just 33 seconds to win the PFL Middleweight title, knocking out Abusupiyan Magomedov with a left hook that dropped Magomedov followed by a hammer fist to end the fight.
