Phil Davis Remains Top Contender In Light Heavyweight Division
Former Bellator light heavyweight champion and former UFC fighter Phil Davis needed to make a statement after suffering a loss in his opening fights of the Bellator Grand Prix.
And Davis (23-6) did that by earning a split decision victory over Yoel Romero (13-6) at Bellator 266. With the win, Davis stayed in the No. 3 spot of Bellator’s rankings.
In the beginning, both fighters were using their striking skills.
Davis was landing more punches, but Romero was landing harder ones. As soon as Davis started using his wrestling skills, it was clear that he won winning the round. It was less expected since Romero is a fantastic wrestler and former Olympic silver medalist in wrestling.
Davis remains as one of the top contenders in Bellator’s light heavyweight division while Romero remains unranked.
Fans think it’s interesting to see what is next for both fighters.
