PIC: Callum Smith Suffers Bicep Injury In Loss To Canelo Alvarez
It seems Callum Smith will be on the shelf after his loss to Canelo Alvarez.
Smith put the WBA (Super) and The Ring Super-Middleweight Titles on the line against Canelo. The action took place inside the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas. Fans attended the event at a reduced capacity and the crowd was pro-Canelo due to the wave of Mexican fans in the arena.
In the end, Smith suffered the first loss of his pro boxing career. Canelo never stopped moving forward in the bout as he wasn’t intimidated by Smith’s power. It was a unanimous decision victory for Canelo. In addition to taking the WBA and The Ring gold, Canelo also captured the vacant WBC Title.
Not only did Smith lose the fight but he didn’t walk away unscathed either. Reports have surfaced claiming that Smith suffered a detached bicep in the bout. Here’s a look at the damage done (via Michael Benson).
