Pitbull Hurt, Bellator 167 Main Event Off

Bellator 167’s featured attraction has been cancelled, for the second time. Patricky "Pitbull" Freire has suffered an undisclosed injury and will not be fighting at the Thackerville, OK event. He was scheduled to fight Derek Campos in a lightweight bout.

MMAFighting reported the news of Pitbull’s injury. Campos will still be paid for the event and will be booked for a new opponent in early 2017, according to Bellator.

Pitbull vs. Campos was set as the main event for Bellator 167 on short-notice, as the original headliner between Patt Curran and John Teixeira was cancelled due to Curran’s injury.

Freire and Campos had fought once before, with Pitbull winning by second-round TKO. The rematch was scheduled to take place in April, but it was scrapped when Campos was injured. Now, the rematch has been put on ice yet again.

Bellator 167 is set to be one of two cards that take place next weekend in Thackerville, OK. On the night before Bellator 167, bantamweight champion Eduardo Dantas takes on Joe Warren.
