Plans Revealed For Another UFC Card In Saudi Arabia To Follow Inaugural Event In June

It seems that trips to Saudi Arabia could become a more regular occurrence for the UFC, with information regarding plans for their second event in the country already surfacing.

On June 22nd, former middleweight champion Robert Whittaker will square off with Khamzat Chimaev, in a 5-round main event bout under the bright lights of the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

The event was originally scrutinized for not being as star-studded as what has come to be expected in Riyadh, considering their recent combat sports events featuring names such as Tyson Fury, Francis Ngannou, and Anthony Joshua. But, given the recent information revealed by General Entertainment Authority Turki Alalshikh in an interview with Ariel Helwani on The MMA Hour, it sounds like the best has yet to be announced.

“It is good,” Alalshikh said on The MMA Hour. “We want more. In the last time, I saw Dana in New York, we discussed and finished a deal with a big card at the end of this year or the beginning of ‘25 in Riyadh. Two or three times bigger than this card.

“Also, this is an important thing to explain to the people, there will be a huge UFC card in September in Vegas in The Sphere presented by Riyadh Season,” he concluded. “It will be an amazing card.”

While the upcoming event in Saudi Arabia is just a Fight Night, it sounds as though their follow-up trip to the country will be for a more high profile PPV event. Despite this not being the card some expected for the organization’s debut in the Middle Eastern country, the main card is set to showcase a fantastic lineup.
