Caleb Plant claims Edgar Berlanga does not want to fight him, having not heard back from the fighter following an offer.
Plant is expected to headline an event on May 31, subject to an opponent being announced. He has been linked with a Berlanga fight ever since they exchanged verbals at the Canelo Alvarez vs. Jermell Charlo weigh in. Eddie Hearn wanted to make that fight following Berlanga’s win over Jonathan Gonzalez-Ortiz in his last fight. However, Berlanga also has eyes on Jaime Munguia and Jermall Charlo. Those two names arguably will sell the same if not more than a Plant fight. While Plant is the former IBF Super Middleweight Champion, Berlanga’s focus seems elsewhere.
“We sent him the contract. We’re about to see in a day or two. Just stay tuned, but it ain’t going to be him. He don’t want to fight me. If he a free agent? Is he free to go where he wants? If he free to fight whoever he wants? Here I am. So, there you go. Spank his a**,” Plant said
