Sources: Caleb Plant’s first super middleweight title defense of 2020 will come against Alfredo Angulo, likely on Feb. 15. Plant scored a third-round TKO of Mike Lee in July, while Angulo edged Peter Quillin via decision in September

Plant claimed the championship with a win over Jose Uzcategui in January, and he retained it with a third-round TKO of Mike Lee on July 20 as part of the Manny Pacquiao vs. Keith Thurman preliminary card.
Angulo’s title shot comes after quite the set of circumstances regarding the No. 1 contender’s position. After an April bout for the position between Caleb Truax and Peter Quillin went to a No Contest, the bout was rescheduled for August until an injury suffered by Truax. Quillin and Angulo then faced off in September, with Angulo pulling off an upset to earn the title shot.
