Poirier Picks Walkout Song For His Fight With Makhachev

Dustin Poirier has a particular walkout song for his next fight against Islam Makachev on June 1 at UFC 301.

Poirier is chasing his first-ever world title, having fallen short numerous times. The Diamond suffered a loss to Khabib Nurmagomedov in a UFC Lightweight Title clash at UFC 242 in 2019. That was followed by a defeat to Charles Oliveira at UFC 269 in 2021, also for the lightweight belt. Dustin also lost at UFC 291 against Justin Gaethje, who became the BMF Champion. As he enters this fight, Poirier spoke about winning the belt for his family, saying it could be his last fight.

“I just have a lot of stuff that kinda gets put on hold, so to say, for me to chase these dreams and stuff like that. I’m approaching 18 years of fighting, and I wanna become the world champion and live my life, you know? …. It could be [my last fight]. I haven’t made an official decision yet, but it could be. I’ve said this over and over again, I still have a lot of tread on the tires I can beat these young guys – I just did it. But how much do I want to give to this sport, because you don’t ride for free,” Poirier said

If that is the case, Poirier wants a walkout song to remember.
