Police: Lee’s Husband May Be Hiding at MMA Gym
Police are still on the lookout for Donny Aaron, husband of UFC women’s flyweight fighter Andrea Lee, and they feel he may be hiding in an MMA gym.
Aaron is wanted on charges of domestic violence and battery and false imprisonment. A close friend of Lee’s claims Aaron burned Lee with a cigarette and choked her before fighting him off and fleeing the house. Aaron allegedly fled the house after police were called.
Shreveport (La.) police spokesperson Angie Willhite says after receiving tips from the public, police have given warnings to MMA gyms in the community.
“I don’t know if people understand there are consequences to that,” Willhite said. “If they’re intentionally harboring this man, that’s against the law. You can’t do that, and I would certainly hope that wouldn’t be the case.”
Lee suffered minor injuries in the incident. Police have not revealed the name of the close friend, citing privacy laws.
Investigators originally thought Aaron fled to Georgia, and while Willhite is unsure if his charges allow for him to be extradited, all local law enforcement has been made aware of his fugitive status. Meanwhile, Willhite encourages anyone with information on the matter to come forward via the agency’s anonymous tip hotline.
“You can’t run from this forever,” Willhite said. “We’re going to find him eventually.”
Lee, meanwhile, has been booked for a fight with Jessica Rose-Clark at UFC Milwaukee this December.
