Luis Hernandez (8-0), a Miami-Dade sheriff’s deputy, submitted France’s Hugo Guillon (7-2) with a rear-naked choke at 1:01 of Round 2 during Dana White’s Contender Series 92, earning himself a UFC contract.
Hernandez worked the body early, but Guillon fired back and dropped him with a punch early in the second round before attacking with a submission attempt. Hernandez escaped, scrambled to take Guillon’s back and locked in the rear-naked choke for the finish.
His celebration included a dance and a nod to WWE’s D-Generation X, while a large group of fellow officers cheered him on from the crowd.
Hernandez previously drew attention for an in-cage altercation with Sean Strickland at a regional event in 2025. After Hernandez submitted Miles Hunsinger and taunted his corner, Strickland entered the cage and punched Hernandez. Strickland was later fined $5,000 and suspended for six months by the Nevada State Athletic Commission.
Also on the card, Tyshawn Williams defeated Antonio Monteiro by unanimous decision, with scores of 29-28, 29-27 and 29-27. Williams was not awarded a UFC contract but was invited back for another Contender Series appearance later this season.
