Potential Date For Marco Antonio Barrera vs. Erik Morales Exhibition
A new potential date for Marco Antonio Barrera vs. Erik Morales has been revealed.
Back in October, ESPN Deportes reported that Barrera and Morales were in talks for an exhibition clash. The initial proposed date was January 15 but the two have yet to duke it out a fourth time. Now, there is a new date being discussed.
ESPN Deportes is reporting that July 16 is the new date for the exhibition between Barrera and Morales. Here’s what Morales had to say on the matchup.
“We are very happy to be able to get back in the ring. Barrera was a great opponent for me in my career, we had three fights, two of them were the best [fights] of the year, and we are just finalizing some things. In a few days, we will have the venue and see if we are going to use headgear or not. What has been decided is that it will be six rounds.”
Fans have long revered the trilogy between Barrera and Morales. Morales won their first encounter via split decision back in February 2000. Barrera emerged victorious in the rematch via unanimous decision back in June 2002. Their last meeting took place in November 2004 with Barrera getting the majority decision win.
