Premier Boxing Champions Set For August Return
Following a long absence, Premier Boxing Champions is set to return to action. Jamal James v. Thomas Dulorme was rumored for August following an initial date of July 25. Now, upcoming events are expected to take place across multiple areas.
Starting on August 1, PBC will air “Showtime Championship Boxing” cards from inside the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville CT. That will air on Showtime. The James v. Dulorme bout will now take place on August 8 from inside the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, and it will air on FOX. Boxing Scene was the first to report the news.
According to Mike Coppinger of The Athletic, the main event of the August 1 card may be Stephen Fulton vs. Angelo Leo for the WBO Junior-Featherweight Title. This is a result of Emmanuel Navarrete vacating his title.
It was recently reported that Bellator MMA would be making its return to action in late July. There is a chance the promotion would have an event under the “Showtime Championship Boxing” banner due to ViacomCBS owning the promotion and Showtime.
Fans will not be allowed to attend any of the announced events. The James v. Dulorme bout, meant for March, was moved again as a result of Major League Baseball returning to action.
The last bout hosted by PBC was Robert Helenius’ win over Adam Kownacki inside the Barclays Center back on March 7.
