PRIDE Legend Takayama Paralyzed In Wrestling Accident

Yoshihiro Takayama, famous for his legendary fight with Don Frye in Pride FC, has announced that he has become paralyzed due to an accident while wrestling for the promotion known as DDT.

The injury occurred  on May 6th, when the bleached blonde fighter landed on his neck during a move known as a sunset flip, causing several spinal surgeries.

Per Takyama’s representatives,  Takayama is completely paralyzed from the neck down. They also have implied that the financial burden of his treatment is becoming a concern for his family.

Takayama considered to be a legend in his native Japan, was known for his fights not only against Don Frye, but Bob Sapp. He is also one of two men to hold New Japan Pro Wrestling’s IWGP Heavyweight Championship, All Japan’s Triple Crown Heavyweight Championship and Pro Wrestling Noah’s GHC Heavyweight Championship.
