Pulev-Hughie Fury Signed, Pulev Leaves Promoters

Kubrat Pulev is ready to return to the ring, as he and Hughie Fury have signed a deal for an October 27th showdown in his native Sofia, Bulgaria, with the winner becoming the mandatory challenger for Anthony Joshua’s IBF world heavyweight championship.

Not only has Pulev signed for the fight on October 27th, but he has terminated his contract with the German promoter Team Sauerland.

“Everything happened 10 days ago,” the 37-year-old Pulev, will make his much-anticipated comeback after an absence of a year and a half in Sofia on Oct. 27, said on Thursday.

“I paid $150,000 because of the early termination of the contract.”

This is Pulev’s first fight since his victory over Kevin Johnson in April, 2017, before a training injury would sideline him prior to a fight with unified heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua, which is what would ignite the split.

“We pursue different interests and we have a different ideology,” Pulev said of his disconnection from Team Sauerland. “I think everyone should pursue his goals in his own way and that’s good for all. And I had to pay for it.”
