Purse Bid Expected For Demetrius Andrade vs. Liam Williams

It looks like Demetrius Andrade vs. Liam Williams is headed for a purse bid.

Sources told BoxingScene.com that the WBO will begin the process soon. Andrade is the WBO Middleweight Champion. A 15-day negotiation process for Andrade vs. Williams fizzled out, so now there will be a purse bid to determine who gets promotional rights to the fight.

Frank Warren of Queensberry Promotions told Boxing Scene that the fight will indeed go to a purse bid.

“We’re heading to purse bids and go from there. We’ll see what happens, but I really like Liam’s chances in this fight.”

Andrade was last seen in action back in January 2020. He successfully defended his WBO gold against Luke Keeler, scoring the ninth-round TKO finish. This was his third successful title defense.

As for Williams, he last competed back in October 2020. He scored a first-round knockout win over Andrew Robinson to retain the British Middleweight Title. The victory extended the winning streak of Williams to seven.

Up to this point, Andrade has gone unbeaten in his pro boxing career. “Boo Boo” has amassed a perfect record of 29-0 with 18 of those wins coming by way of knockout.

The record of Williams is 23-2-1. In 18 of those victories, “The Machine” scored a knockout or TKO over his opponent.
