Quote: Oleksandr Usyk Is Already In Anthony Joshua’s Head
Oleksandr Usyk is set to fight Derek Chisora but his team already feels Anthony Joshua is thinking about Usyk.
On October 31, Usyk will share the boxing ring with Chisora. The heavyweight fight will headline a Matchroom Boxing card inside the SSE Arena, Wembley in London, England. This fight will be contested behind closed doors. This will be Usyk’s second pro boxing match as a heavyweight.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Usyk’s co-promoter, Alexander Krassyuk expressed his belief that his fighter is already on the mind of Joshua.
“Usyk is already in AJ’s head. Their fight will happen anyway, this is just a matter of time. There is no difference how big Usyk’s win is – AJ knows that this guy is a real threat for him.”
Joshua is the WBA (Super), IBF, WBO, and IBO Heavyweight Champion. He’s scheduled to defend all of his gold against Kubrat Pulev on December 12. If Joshua emerges victorious, he hopes to move on to a title unification bout against WBC Heavyweight Champion Tyson Fury.
Usyk is currently the mandatory challenger for the WBO Heavyweight Title. He will lose that status if he is defeated by Chisora. The manager of Chisora, David Haye, has been pushing for his fighter to gain that mandatory status if he upsets Usyk.
