Rampage & Sonnen To Headline Bellator 192
It will be title contenders and not title holders who headline January 20th at Bellator 192, as Chael Sonnen vs. Quinton Jackson will go on last at the Fabulous Forum in Inglewood, Calif.,
Bellator president Scott Coker told The Sporting News on Friday that Sonnen vs. “Rampage” will be the main event. This is a shift from what was expected to be at the top of the bill a welterweight title fight between champion Douglas Lima and Rory MacDonald.
In a comment to MMA Fighting, Bellator Spokesperson CJ Tuttle confirmed that Sonnen and Jackson will go on last, but the promotion may give the event a double main event along, with Lima vs. MacDonald. This would be the first time for the company since 2016’s Bellator 149, with Kimbo Slice vs. Dada 5000 and Royce Gracie vs. Ken Shamrock acted as co-main events.
While Jackson and Sonnen are considered two of the bigger names in Mixed Martial Arts, Rory MacDonald was considered a major coup for Bellator, when they signed him away from the UFC in 2017.
