Ray Borg Out of UFC ON ESPN 10, Who Will Replace Him?

It looks like Ray Borg will have to wait for his third fight of 2020. It was reported by the UFC on media day (via MMA Junkie) that Borg is out of his fight this Saturday, June 13 against Merab Dvalishvili.

The reason for Borg (13-5) exiting the bout is due to personal reasons. Borg was attempting to fight in a quick turnaround bout following his loss against Ricky Simon on May 13. It was “The Tazmexican Devil’s” official move to bantamweight after years at flyweight. Taking his place will be Gustavo Lopez, and the bout will be at catchweight.

Borg ended up posting on social media a picture of his son. Saying “family first”, Borg his looking out for someone who has gone through multiple complications over the last few years.

Dvalishvili (10-4) will be coming into the fight needing a new game plan. He is currently on a three-fight win streak dating back to 2018. The 29-year-old last fought in February, beating Casey Kenney via unanimous decision.

Lopez (11-4) is the current Combate Americas Bantamweight Champion. He is on a three-fight win streak, with two wins in 2019. The 30-year-old last fought in August, beating Joey Ruquet via knockout, the fifth of his career. This will be his UFC debut after turning pro in 2012.

UFC on ESPN 10 will take place from inside the UFC’s APEX Center. The main event will be Jessica Eye v. Cynthia Calvillo in a flyweight bout.
