Raymond Muratalla (25-0, 17 KOs) has called for a fight with Shakur Stevenson (25-0, 11 KOs), and is hoping to hand the pound-for-pound star his first career loss. In January, Stevenson dominated Teofimo Lopez but ever since hasn’t defended his WBO super-lightweight title, with his move to Zuffa Boxing fueling doubts he ever will.
Stevenson had been linked to a 144-pound catchweight fight with Devin Haney, but Haney has since turned his attention to a potential unification with IBF champion Liam Paro.
Muratalla defended his IBF lightweight title against Robson Conceicao earlier this month and has said he plans to move up to super-lightweight, where he could potentially emerge as the WBO’s No. 1 contender.
“I would love for it to happen by the end of this year, that would be ideal. I want to be active, I feel good, I feel amazing, actually. So, hopefully by the end of this year, but I have no date or anything planned yet,” Muratalla
If Muratalla vacates his IBF lightweight title to move up in weight, Russia’s Artur Subkhankulov and Belarus’ Dmitry Asanau are expected to be in contention for the vacant belt.
