Regis Prograis Predicts Jose Ramirez vs. Josh Taylor
Former light-welterweight champion Regis Prograis has made his pick for Jose Ramirez vs. Josh Taylor.
Ramirez vs. Taylor is a big title unification that was recently announced. Ramirez is the WBC and WBO Light-Welterweight Champion, while Taylor holds the WBA (Super), IBF, and The Ring gold. The two will collide to determine an undisputed champion on May 22.
Prograis, who suffered a majority decision loss to Taylor, spoke to Fight Hype on the upcoming title fight. Prograis explained why he thinks Taylor will emerge victorious (h/t Bad Left Hook).
“I think Josh Taylor wins. I think decision. You know, Jose is tough but I think he can definitely be outboxed. He had two fights that he was getting outboxed and stuff like that, he just keep coming forward. With the Postol fight and with the Zepeda fight he was getting outboxed, and then Josh Taylor is big and he’s strong and he’s a southpaw.
“I don’t think Josh Taylor should go in there and brawl with him, like cojones, you know, because he’s Scottish and Scottish people they like to fight and shit like that. So if he goes in there and does that, I don’t say he’ll lose the fight but he’ll be playing into Ramirez’s hands. But if he [expletive] go out there and keep a long southpaw jab on him, hit him with the one-two, I think he’ll beat him.”
Ramirez vs. Taylor is set to air live on the major ESPN network. We’ll keep you updated as the card begins to take shape.
