Renato Moicano Steps In Vs. Rafael Dos Anjos At UFC 272
UFC 272 has a new co-main event.
Rafael Dos Anjos was supposed to share the octagon with Rafael Fiziev at UFC 272, but Fiziev tested positive for Covid-19 and was forced to out from the fight just a week before the battle.
The UFC announced Renato Moicano as the replacement. These two Brazilians will share the octagon under the catchweight limit. This will be a potential five-rounder battle.
Tony Ferguson and Islam Makhachev were other candidates for to be a replacement.
Moicano recently notched a victory at his last fight at UFC 271 when he shared the octagon with Alexander Hernandez via submission.
The only loss Moicano suffered in the lightweight division was against Fiziev. He is an experienced fighter with massive ground game and aggressive striking.
Dos Anjos is a former UFC champion.
In his prime, he defeated fighters like Benson Henderson, Nate Diaz, Anthony Pettis and Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone.
But he was dethroned at UFC Fight Night 90 and suffered the second loss in a row against legendary Ferguson.
His latest appearance was against Paul Felder in 2020 and earned a split decision victory after a close five rounds.
