“Sources: Devin Haney and Jorge Linares are in talks for a potential lightweight fight on April 17 on DAZN. Would be a tremendous fight in the ring and a big step up for one of the sport’s rising stars.”
Haney had initially expressed interest in either fighting Teofimo Lopez, Ryan Garcia, or Javier Fortuna next. Matchroom Boxing’s Eddie Hearn, however, recently said he likes the Linares matchup for Haney.
Linares hasn’t competed in over a year. He took on Carlos Morales back in February 2020. Linares won the fight via fourth-round knockout.
Haney has a perfect pro boxing record of 25-0. Along the way, he has scored 15 knockouts. His last bout took place back in November 2020. He defeated Yuriorkis Gamboa via unanimous decision to successfully retain the WBC Lightweight Championship.
