Report: Jermell Charlo vs. Brian Castano Set For Title Unification Bout

Jermell Charlo vs. Brian Castano has reportedly been agreed to.

BoxingScene.com reports that Charlo and Castano are likely due for a title unification bout either in June or July. Showtime is expected to televise the event. Houston, where Charlo currently resides, is a frontrunner in terms of a landing spot.

Charlo is the WBA, WBC, and IBF Junior-Middleweight Champion. Castano holds the WBO gold. The winner of this bout would become the undisputed junior-middleweight champion.

In his last outing, Charlo added the WBA, IBF, and The Ring titles to his mantle. He did so by stopping Jeison Rosario in the eighth round via knockout. It was a body shot that doomed Rosario.

As for Castano, he’s fresh off his WBO title victory. He earned a unanimous decision win over Patrick Teixeira to achieve the feat.
