Report: Jose Aldo vs. Marlon Vera In The Works For UFC 255

A bantamweight scrap between Jose Aldo and Marlon Vera is reportedly being targeted.

Combate is reporting that verbal agreements are in place between Aldo and Vera for a clash on November 21 at UFC 255. It’s important to note that neither man has received a contract but both have verbally committed to the bout.

Many would agree that this is a significant step up in competition for Vera. In his last outing back on August 15, Vera defeated Sean O’Malley via first-round TKO after “Sugar” suffered an injury. The win earned “Chito” a spot in the top 15 UFC bantamweight rankings.

Aldo was last seen competing for the UFC Bantamweight Championship. He took on Petr Yan for the vacant gold back on July 12. Aldo ended up losing the bout via TKO in the fifth round.

Aldo finds himself with a record of 0-2 in the bantamweight division. Vera has competed at featherweight but many would agree that 135 pounds is his true home. While Aldo has been able to keep himself in tip-top shape at bantamweight, many are wondering when that will translate to a victory.

UFC 255 will feature a flyweight title bout between champion Deiveson Figueiredo and Alex Perez. Cody Garbrandt was initially set to receive the title opportunity but he was sidelined due to an injury. Also set for the card is a UFC Women’s Flyweight Title fight. Champion Valentina Shevchenko will put her gold on the line against Jennifer Maia.
