Report: Marco Antonio Barrera vs. Erik Morales Set For Exhibition Bout

The legendary feud between Marco Antonio Barrera and Erik Morales has one more chapter.

Boxing legends Barrera and Morales are set to collide one final time. ESPN Deportes is reporting that Barrera and Morales will clash in an exhibition bout on January 15. The bout will take place in Dallas, Texas.

Barrera is 46 years old, while Morales is 44. Barrera’s last bout was back on February 12, 2011. He earned a second-round TKO victory over Jose Arias. As for Morales, he hasn’t competed since October 20, 2012, when he was knocked out by Danny Garcia.

The trilogy between Barrera and Morales is one that longtime fight fans hold in high regard. Morales won their first encounter via split decision back in February 2000. Barrera took the rematch in June 2002 via unanimous decision. Their last meeting took place in November 2004 with Barrera getting the majority decision win.

Outside of their trilogy, Barrera and Morales have left behind quite the legacy. Both men are inducted in the International Boxing Hall of Fame. They captured world titles in multiple weight classes throughout their careers. Barrera closed out his pro career with a record of 67-7, 1 NC, while Morales’ record was 52-9.
