Report: What Is The New UFC On ESPN+ 35 Main Event?
It appears there is a new headliner set for UFC on ESPN+ 35.
In short order, the UFC announced an event for September 12. The initial plan was for the main event to feature a light heavyweight tilt between the returning Thiago Santos and Glover Teixeira. That plan was quickly derailed after it was revealed that Teixeira tested positive for COVID-19. The bout has been rescheduled for October 3.
In an update regarding the UFC on ESPN+ 35 card, ESPN’s Ariel Helwani reports that Michelle Waterson vs. Angela Hill is the new main event. Helwani notes that this will be a five-round fight.
Michelle Waterson x Angela Hill will be the new UFC main event on Sept. 12, sources say. Five-round fight. It’s getting bumped up to the headliner spot after the original main — Glover Teixeira x Thiago Santos — was canceled earlier this week after Teixeira tested + for COVID.

Waterson has lost her last two outings and is hoping to avoid the first three-fight skid of her pro MMA career. To do so, she’ll need to thwart a surging Hill. “Overkill” has gone 3-1 in her last four outings. Some have even argued that she should’ve been awarded the victory in her last outing with Claudia Gadelha. Hill lost that bout via split decision.
UFC on ESPN+ 35 will also feature a women’s flyweight clash between Roxanne Modafferi and Andrea Lee. Ottman Azaitar and Khama Worthy are also set to share the Octagon. Billy Quarantillo vs. Kyle Nelson and Matt Frevola vs. Roosevelt Roberts will be on display as well.
