Retired MMA Star Daniel Cormier Casted In ‘Warrior’ Spin-off TV Series
A former UFC dual champion is making his way to the big screen.
Daniel Cormier, a retired MMA fighter, has been cast in a television spin-off series of the movie, “Warrior.” Director Gavin O’Connor announced the news in an interview with DiscussingFilm.
Cormier will play Bobby Watkins, a Houston fighter “trying to pull his family out of poverty.”
O’Connor, who is also executive producer of the show, said the series won’t be exactly like the movie. Lionsgate Films will produce the show.

Cormier is one of the recognizable names within MMA.
He is also a former UFC light heavyweight and heavyweight champion. He retired in 2020 after back-to-back losses against Stipe Miocic for the title.
Since retiring, Cormier has done UFC commentary, analyst work and hosted multiple shows for ESPN.
Now, he’ll be acting.
